Autumn in Languedoc

With temperatures still in the high 20's in Pézenas at the end of September, it's tempting to just hit the beach and who could blame you! But as the weather gradually cools, it's a wonderful time to enjoy the countryside inland of the Herault. The stunning "terroir" comes to life, as all around, the grape harvesting season is in full swing.

Tractors are bustling along the country roads, making their way to the local co-op, where their grapes are combined to produce the famous reds of Languedoc - the Corbieres, Fitous, and Minervois.

September and October are lovely, sunny months to visit. Take a look at this photo of the Lac du Salagou, (just 25 minutes drive north of Pézenas). It was taken by a guest of the Coteau Moliere- "Lac du Salagou au lever du soleil".  This wonderful image perfectly captures the immense beauty of the region. Once again, it's the sheer variety of Languedoc and Herault that makes this such an excellent holiday destination.
