Tour de France 2014
This year's TDF has its widely announced start in the UK, spending the first 3 days making it way to London and then onwards to Eastern France, into the Alps, and across to the Pyrennees. Unusually, there are only two stages in the South - one into Nimes, and then after a rest day, on July21st, starting out from Carcassonne.
Here is the summary of the 2014 route through Languedoc.
The stage departing from Carcassonne will be visually spectacular, with plenty of shots of that amazing castle, and then rolling out into the stunning scenic countryside before they head up into the Pyrennees. Expect to see field after field of sunflowers swaying in the summer breeze. So if you can't make it to Languedoc this summer, take consolation that this may well be a stage best enjoyed from home.
