Christmas in Languedoc - "Nadal Occitan"

As you might expect Christmas in Languedoc is a more relaxed affair than we are accustomed to - there's less of the "frantic" build up, yet it's very atmospheric, and perhaps even more focused on family and food!

There are Christmas markets to enjoy in Montagnac, and some of the smaller towns, whilst Pézenas itself hosts the “Nadal Occitan”, featuring traditional Languedoc festivities and traditions.

There's a lovely craft fair in the town centre, and Christmas concerts in Pomérols and Montagnac. One of the features of the "Nadal a Pézenas" are the Christmas carols by candlelight- you won't beat that for atmosphere.

Montpellier is a spectacularly beautiful city, never more so than leading up to Christmas - enjoy your Christmas shopping at the night markets, and soak up the atmosphere in the Place de Cómedie, festively lit up with Christmas lights.

Don't forget the fireworks on New Year's Eve, they're very popular in this part of France.
